a literary map of manhattan

Maps maps maps. Everyone’s playing with maps as interface (see here and here). Check out this multimedia feature at the NY Times. Doesn’t go very deep, but fun all the same. Each item was reader-submitted over the past month – a collective effort to map the rich fictional life of Manhattan. They should do one of these for Brooklyn.

Reminds me of Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood. Each of the red dots below links to a story or article set in that location.

So disappointing! They didn’t include my suggestion.
    Here’s what I sent them:
To the New York Times Book Review:
In response to your query in the May 1 edition:
My favorite Manhattan literary address belongs to Leib Goldkorn, the hero of Leslie Epstein’s “Goldkorn Tales” (1985) and “Ice Fire Water: A Leib Goldkorn Cocktail” (1999).
He lives, into his 97th year, at 130 West 80th Street – between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, on the Upper West Side.
