Death Cards For Willoughby
double_u UU sends cards for dead Mexican Kings my way and it made me think how much I’m playing cards these days. I’ve been spending a lot of time editing Cage with Dave S. and that feels like a poker game half the time. I’ve also been trying to storyboard Willoughby which feels like a card game too, in the sense of discreet rectangle pictures laid out like solitaire. More hands to come!
You You and Me en Paris
Card Game
Jackard Male
Greetings came in the post from Belgium by way of fripsmailart.blogspot.com/. This just as I was prepping my first found card (a Jack of Spades) to send off in a new mail art project I’m starting with DoubleYou in London. This one we might call Art Poker, Or Art Gin, Or Art Cards, or Art Shuffle or…. well we haven’t named it yet. It consists of finding a playing card in the street… something I do and collect because if it’s playful randomness… I mean how is it that you will sometimes find a random card on the sidewalk? It’s like finding a single shoe… Cinderalla of the game world. So the idea is that you alter this card in some way and then send it off to another artist to finish, or alter again and mail on… Could be interesting…. Shuffling the deck around the world as it were.
New New York Correspondence School
This is some mail art I got these last couple of weeks from my friend Chuck Sasson at the New New York Correspondence School. I fell on his mail art Fluxus fun while doing the Library Project. He works at my local wine store and it’s nice to run into him and find that he’s been reading the blog and then find some of his mail art in the letter box…in some way I think these works are his response to some of my recent stories, etc. Anyway I can’t seem to make anything I want to show anyone and I’m sort of saving up my mojo to go into Frost Street starting Monday and knock up some large dogs and dead ducks, etc.

Working on some new Library collaborations, this one I’ve been noodling on for a while. A start from Caroline VK.
More Songs About Movies
Here are some Collabs from Brian Raszka and The Library Project. He’s taken up my animated gif obsession and when you stack them up like this it really becomes sort of cinematc. This trio is all obsessed with Foreign and American film: Particularly the word play on French New Wave stars Goddard and Truffaut… Which is sort of like God is True or Faux (meaning “fake” in French)?. Brian’s animated finishes come right at a time where Sonja is trying to engage the group in a larger animated story. More on that idea as it happens.
