Cog Traces

Here is one of the halfs of the cog tracing I did. These were used to protect the floor from epoxy resin stains and to have a model to recut a new cog if the epoxy some how destroyed the cog. There is another side to this but only one of the photos came out. I gave the drawing to the cog’s owner as a sort of bonus memento of the restoration.

Visiting

While the blog was down, Justin Ho visited from Minnesota and I showed him around New York on a couple of long photo Safaris. Here are a couple of vids we made together. Two years ago we collaborated at a distance on this short film:

Walking Home

Went on a epic walk home from 34th street. The whole city lit up electric as the sun set and CMJ is in town so all down Bowery I saw the guitar carrying hipsters and rock and roll chicks with leather and lipstick and cigarettes dangling on line to get into this or that party and hear these and those bands. None of that could be as good as the view from the bridge. Glorious.

The Works of Fire

bkcrowdfeelme.jpgfirst impression of the fete for BK bridge. 125 years of hero sandwich. The rapper called himself “Sane” I think. So that if you called out, “You’re Sane” it would sound so much nicer than “You’re Insane!” but frankly at three in the moring we were more in than not.

Brown Ain't No Place For White Shoes

Been on some sort of reunion vibe these last few months… some sort of black sheep returneth trip or what have you. So in keeping with that mode, I went for a little dumpling picknick with one of my favorite Alums of old Camp Bruno and we blathered for a long time and drank beer from paper bags in the park while the chinese kids played handball and layed out a pang thud thud pang soundtrack in the summer night.

Earlier, I had a near religious experience (not only was someone sky writing x and y all over brooklyn, but…) when I crossed Manhattan bridge by foot, the light came behind the brooklyn in such a way that it cast a magnificent reverse gothic arch shadow across the flaming sunset water… the key hole arches both cut out in fire on the water. It was only there for about sixty seconds, but good shit it was glorious and luckily I was on a nikon safari. New York is just a magnificent place sometimes and its filled with people that you know and love, but didn’t know were living so close to you. One big urban reunion project.
