The next day brought with it the winter thant broke the back at summer’s fall. It was a summer place to be certain, but they’d rented it for the Autumn as the rates were cheaper and there was no one for hiking, nor skiing and it was the great in between between the mountains and the lake.
“Snow,” he said.
“We should go up into the mountains,” she said. “Is it far?”
“It’s Switzerland,” He said. “There is no such thing as far. We’ll just hop on the train and go up and soak in the snow and die Alpen Lumen.”
“The what now?”
“Some kind of magic light that comes down with a beautiful sadness.”
“How Japanese.”
“Truly,” he said and laughed because it was easier to find a Japanese in Interlaken than a Swiss.
